Arrive early, allow extra time for security

UPDATED: March 17, 3:15 p.m.

The partial federal government shutdown is impacting TSA staffing at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). The number of available screening lanes can fluctuate shift-by-shift. Because of that, passengers should plan ahead and arrive early to allow extra time for security screening.

TSA checkpoints are open in Terminals A, C and E.

Is your air carrier in Terminal D? Check your baggage at Terminal D, then proceed to Terminal E for security screening. Houston Airports customer service representatives in orange polos are standing by ready to assist you.

Reminder: The Subway connects all five terminals, pre-security.

IAH Terminal B Transformation

Beginning January 21, 2025, United Airlines will temporarily close the IAH Terminal B Ticketing Lobby. It will remain closed until late 2026.

Here's what you need to know:

  • During this time, United Airlines Gates B3–B31 will remain operational.
  • All Terminal B passengers will check in, drop bags and clear TSA screening at Terminal C.
  • Passengers will then take the Skyway from Terminal C to Terminal B.

The Terminal A/B and Terminal C/D/E parking garages remain open. If you park at the A/B garage, a United Airlines express shuttle will take you to your desired terminal. Make online parking reservations for our garages and ecopark lots here.

New Shuttle Option for United Passengers at IAH

Passengers connecting between Terminal B (Gates 4-11), Terminal C (Gates 30–45), and Terminal E (Gates 1–10) have the option to use a United-operated shuttle bus as an alternative to the Skyway.

  • From Gate C33A to Terminal B
  • From Gate B3 to Terminal C

Signage is in place. Shuttle use is optional. This service will remain available during the Terminal B Transformation project.

IAH Terminal B Club and Concessions Closure

Beginning January 15, 2025, United Airlines will close the existing United Club and Concessions in the Terminal B Processor Building. Here's what you need to know:

  • Concessions at Terminal B South will remain open.
  • For flights departing from Terminal B, customers may:
  • Visit the Clubs in Terminals A or C. Allow at least 20 minutes for inter-terminal transit.

A new United Club Fly opened in Terminal B South late February 2025 near B gates.
